Summary: A lightweight and punchy full-sus e-MTB.
What we like…
We like the frame – especially the neat, weight-saving rear triangle – and the integrated battery. Although you could argue that it’s mainly a trail and XC bike, there’s a good amount of ground clearance for downhilling and more than enough grunt to get back up again.
What you’ll like…
The E-8000 motor by Shimano. Boost mode is exceptional fun and you’ll probably be in Boost for the whole time!
What makes this one of the BEST E-MTBs for 2018?
The designers have built a bike with all the usual ‘upgrades’ that you would normally carry out after purchasing the bike.
The suspension travel was increased from 140mm to 150mm, with all the bumps effortlessly soaked up by the Fox shocks front and rear. Factory built Race Face 29er wheelset for smooth running and low unsprung mass. Magura MT Sport brakes and an e-bike specific Sram 8 speed gearset complete the package.
Like all Focus Jam2’s, the Factory uses the Shimano E8000 motor with their own custom 378wh battery hidden in the frame. For longer rides, an external 378wh battery (T.E.C. pack) is available that piggy backs of the downtube.
