“Made for Comfort”

The Motus stepthrough by Raleigh electric bikes is made for comfort.  The step-through frame allows for easy mounting and dismounting, which is especially handy if you utilise the rack to carry panniers.

The swept back handlebars help the cyclist maintain an upright riding position for extra comfort and its wide grip  take off pressure off the hands and wrists.

You can tell Raleigh electric bikes had town journeys in mind. The Motus has an in-built wheel lock. It’s so quick to immobilise your bike if you’re making a short pit-stop. It’s a useful feature for shopping or nipping in to the Post Office for example.

High Mileage

However, for all this talk of comfort, you also get power in this bike.  The Motus uses the ‘Active’ system, which has all the high-quality components you’d expect from Bosch but is not designed for sport or off-road riding as the Scott’s preferred ‘Performance’ unit is. Of all the motor systems we stock, the Bosch Active line gives the most mileage.

Style wise, its smart two-tone frame, combines well with the chrome handlebars, the reflective tyre walls and the classic Raleigh badge on the front stem. The battery is neatly tucked under the rear rack and the grey drive unit fits well into the overall design scheme.

SUMMARY
All in all, this is a high-quality bike at a good price and if you need something to get you into town, you cannot go wrong. Raleigh electric bikes have a winner with the Motus.

Love my Motus, after doing a lot of Internet research initially went to test drive another make test drove three in total, came away with the Motus, just want to ride everywhere.
Best bike I have rode in a long time
I live by the coast, and the Motus takes the hills with ease even the ramp from the beach up the cliff that the coast guard uses.
the guys at cycling made easy were fully understanding of my needs to insure that I purchased a bike that suited..

    • Nice to hear it’s going well Louise! See, we told you you’d find want to use it a lot! Sounds idyllic cycling by the coast.

  2. Rated 5 out of 5

I bought a 2016 Motus Stepthrough in October and it is great. I really enjoy getting out and it takes steep hills with ease. It seems sturdy and so far the battery has a good life. My wife was so impressed that we bought the 2017 model for her in May of this year. Also a great bike.
The differences that I can see are:
Disc brakes on the 2017 although the hydraulic brakes on the 2016 are spectacular compared to old brakes.
New seat slightly less comfortable but that is personal.
Has straps over the rear parcel tray.. They are very tight and not sure useful.
The 2017 does not have an internal dynamo on the front wheel. So the lights are run off the battery. Not sure what effect that will have. But it was one of the recommendation when I bought the 2016.
The biggest criticism of the 2017 is the mudguards… On the 2016 there are 3 anchor points 1 on the bike frame and 2 spokes to the centre of the wheel. On the 2017 there are only 2 points and they vibrate badly on rough roads.

Having said all that both are great bikes. Definitely worth the money from out point of view.
