Jonathan saw this bike at our showroom and fell in love. His bike is now his daily companion into work and his e-cycling has even improved his conventional cycling!
“I’ve cycled my Riese and Muller ‘Delite 2’ 2260 miles between May and November.
I use it every day between Coulsdon and London – 32 miles a day. I’ve only used the train into London six times this year! I used to cycle to and from work before on a road bike, but the difference using a n e-bike really shows in bad weather. If it’s raining or windy, the electric bike performs so much better, especially the brakes. I find the cycle back from London less gruelling than the 15 minute walk from the train station!
I haven’t lost any fitness switching to an electric bike. It’s like an exercise bike at the gym – you set the level you want to cycle at. If I’m going uphill on my electric bike, you still put the same pedal pressure on it, but instead of going at 9 mph, you can do it at 15 mph.
When the motor cuts out, you have a heavier bike to pedal on the flat but that means that when I take out my regular mountain bike, I find it easier to cycles uphill because I’ve got used to pedalling more weight.
On my normal mountain bike, there were some hills on a trail in Walton I have never been able to climb. I have finally been able to cycle them on my electric bike and I’ve knocked 40 minutes off my time.”
